Mad fruit (pronounced “mod” fruit), grows on the river banks and in woodlands of Burkina Faso, Senegal and Ivory Coast. The fruit has a hard, yellow skin and is filled with seed pods that are meant to be sucked, similar to a tamarind. It has a tart, sour taste similar to a lemon or mango and is popular especially in the Sahel region for making juice. Drawing inspiration from this over sized fruit, we created a graphic, circular repeat design in large scale called “Mad Fruit” and a small scale version called “Senegal”.
